Out with the Old, In with the New Solar System
At Partners in Energy, we love seeing the evolution of solar technology firsthand. Recently, our team had the opportunity to remove a solar system that had been powering a home for over 25 years! In fact, the system was older than some of our apprentices who helped take it down. 😄
How Far We’ve Come in Solar Technology
It’s incredible to look back and see how far solar technology has advanced. When this system was installed a quarter of a century ago, the panels were producing around 100 watts each. Fast forward to today, and modern solar panels are delivering an impressive 440 watts or more per panel—over four times the output!
This increase in efficiency means that homeowners now need fewer panels to generate the same amount of power. Not only are today’s solar systems more powerful, but they also take up less space, are more affordable, and come with longer warranties. Talk about progress!
Why Upgrade Your Solar System?
If your solar system is over 10 years old, it might be time for an upgrade. Newer systems are more efficient, reliable, and can significantly increase your home’s energy savings. Plus, with advances in battery storage, you can store excess solar energy for use at night or during outages—something older systems weren’t designed for.
Here’s why upgrading makes sense:
- Higher Output: Modern panels generate more energy, meaning you can produce more power with fewer panels.
- Better Technology: Improvements in inverter technology and battery storage mean more efficient energy use.
- Lower Costs: The cost of solar has dropped significantly, making upgrades more affordable than ever.
- Increased Savings: Upgrading to a more efficient system means reducing your electricity bills even further.
As solar technology continues to advance, we’re excited to help more homeowners upgrade to newer, more efficient systems.
